Our Story

In 2001, Reality Foods was founded by Roya Hosseini and Farzad Sarafraz, starting a journey built on trust, hard work, and a shared passion for excellence. Roya moved to Toronto in 1986, and Farzad followed in 1995. They met in 1996, connecting over shared dreams and values. At the time, Roya worked in dentistry, while Farzad was in the food service industry. Both were determined to build a future in Canada for their growing family.
The decision to start Reality Foods came shortly after they welcomed their first child. As new parents, they wanted to create a business that would support their family while reflecting their values of service, integrity, and quality. Starting in their garage, the journey wasn’t easy. They debated between food service or venturing into car sales. The turning point came when a trusted dry goods supplier—who believed in their vision—arrived with a truck full of products and unloaded them into their garage based on trust. That moment marked the birth of Reality Foods.
From there, Roya and Farzad worked tirelessly to build a name in Toronto’s restaurant scene. Through relentless effort, they forged strong relationships with restaurant owners, chefs, and others in food service—many of whom they now consider family.
Reality Foods considers itself a family business—not just because it started with Roya, Farzad, and their children, but because they’ve built a family with their employees. From delivery drivers to warehouse staff and office team, each plays an integral role. Many employees have been with the company for years, becoming an invaluable part of its journey.
Customer service, fairness, and partnership have always been at the core. What began as a small family-run operation quickly flourished. By 2002, they moved into a warehouse, expanding their capabilities while staying true to their roots. Roya and Farzad’s mission remains the same: to provide the best service, support their partners, and foster a community that feels like family.
